Monte W. Beghtol's Obituary
Mr. Monte Beghtol, age 77, passed away Tuesday morning, January 11, 2011. He was born January 21, 1933 in Muskegon to Harold and Lillian (Barrett) Beghtol. Mr. Beghtol was a U.S. Air Force Veteran serving stateside during the Korean War. He worked 32 years as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service before retiring in 1988. He was also a karate and billiards teacher for Muskegon Community College. In July of 1995, he was inducted into the U.S. Karate Hall of Fame. On September 1, 1951, he married the former Ardyth O. Elwell in Muskegon and she survives him along with 2 children, Mary Jo (John) Quintero of Fresno, CA, Linda (Mike) Wiersema of Westland, MI; grandson, John-Paul Quintero; half-sister, Sandy Keenan; and many nieces and nephews. SERVICES will be 1:00 PM Saturday at Lakeside Baptist Church with Rev. Leslie K. Lew officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Friday at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. (231) 759-8565.
