Mr. Charles Harry "Chuck" Ritter's Obituary
Mr. Charles Harry “Chuck” Ritter, age 84, passed away Friday, December 17, 2010 at his home in Muskegon. He was born in Muskegon, MI on July 5, 1926 to Walter and Anna (Bouwkamp) Ritter and was a life resident of the area. Mr. Ritter was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a medic during the Korean Conflict. He was a past member of VFW Post #446, current member of Post #3195, and was an active member and Chaplain of the Muskegon County Council Honor Guard VFW having honored over 1000 fellow veterans. Chuck was a member and P.E.R. of the Muskegon Elks, a member of the Fruitport Eagles, an active member of M.E.S.A. and an active member and past deacon at First Baptist Church. As a child, Chuck fell in love with the game of baseball and softball and continued playing throughout his life on slow-pitch and church leagues. He also enjoyed bowling and was past president and secretary of the Muskegon Bowling Association. Above all, Chuck loved his family and his home and those two things always came first in his life. On June 26, 1954, Chuck married the former Beverly Beyer in Muskegon, MI and she survives him along with 2 children, Gregory Ritter and Tamara Larson; 4 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Walter (Jeane) Ritter and Gerald (Wanda) Ritter and 2 sisters, Gloria Price and Joyce Odell. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Robert and Donald Ritter. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100 with Rev. John Brown officiating. VISITATION will be 1 hour prior to the service. MILITARY HONORS will be performed under the auspices of the Muskegon County Council.
