Mrs. Joanne M. Haug's Obituary
Mrs. Joanne M. Haug, age 91, passed away Friday morning, December 4, 2009. Born June 2, 1918 in Muskegon Heights to Stanley and Anna (Burdyl) Pyka, who immigrated from small farming villages in Southern, Poland around 1910. She married John R. Haug on Sept. 27, 1947 in Muskegon Heights. Mrs. Haug had been employed as a Paraprofessional for Muskegon Adult Education where she had been recognized as Employee of the Year in 1989, and retired in 1993 after 20 years of service. A former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, she was currently a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and its choir, the “Melodears” and the Polish Heritage Society. SURVIVORS include her husband, John; five children: William (Linda) Haug of Portage, John L. Haug of Muskegon, Andrew Haug of South Bend, IN, Joanne (Dan) Warren of Rockford, and Anna (Greg) Moss of Muskegon; six grandchildren: Michael (Melissa) Haug of Muskegon, Patrick Haug of Lansing, Jessica Warren of Rockford, Madeline Moss, Lauren Moss and Andrew Moss all of Muskegon; two great-grandsons: Adam Haug and Ryan Haug; a sister-in-law, Mary Haug of Muskegon; her first cousin, Marisa Zieba and her family in Zawoja, Poland; and three special nephews and their families: William Pyka of Vail, CO, Robert (Carol) Pyka of Grand Rapids, and Walter Pyka of Red Bank, NJ. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Walter, Louis and William. Joanne lived a life of care and concern for others and those who were less fortunate. She had a profound impact on all members of her family and will be forever missed. THE FUNERAL MASS for Mrs. Haug will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at St. Michael Catholic Church, 1617 Sixth St., Muskegon, MI 49441 with Rev. Fr. Thomas J. Brown as Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION with her family will be 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Monday at The Lee Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.,6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231)-798-1100 where the Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 P.M. Monday.
