Mrs. Ruth Irene Dykman's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth Irene Dykman, age 80, passed away Saturday evening, November 19, 2011, at a local hospital. Ruth was born March 10, 1931 to Hamilton George and Madelyn (Endres) Phillips in Muskegon. On June 23, 1951, Ruth married LaVerne Treptow and he preceded her in death on April 17, 1990. She had worked as a scheduler at Johnson Technology for 33 years prior to her retirement in 1996. Ruth was a long time member at St. Francis deSales Catholic Church where she had been active in the Women’s Guild and also served as an usher and a greeter. She had also served as a docent for the Hackley and Hume Historical Sites, as well being a member of the volunteer board for the Hackley-Hume Sites. Ruth was an avid crafter and gardener, and had made many baby caps for the birth center at Mercy/General Hospital. Most of all, she was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Ruth is survived by her 4 children, Dennis (Marcia) Treptow of Twin Lake, Steve (Patti) Treptow of San Antonio, TX, Robert (Judy) Treptow and Janice (Steve) Handley all of Muskegon; 13 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, H. George (Joan) Phillips of Rockford and Paul E. (Agnes)Phillips of Whitehall; a sister, Charita (Erwin) Guisbert of Kalkaska; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Tom and Jan Smith, Mary Ann Bowman, and Mary Jayne Raehl. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, June Marie Phillips; and great grandson, Liam Handley. THE MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be at 11 AM Saturday, November 26, 2011 at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church (2929 McCracken St.) with Rev. Fr. Philip P. Salmonowicz as Presider. Entombment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. VISITATION will be Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at The Walburn Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 1547 W. Sherman Blvd. 2321-759-8565.
