Mr. William C. "Bill" Entsminger's Obituary
Mr. William C. Entsminger, age 72, passed away Sunday, August 14, 2011. He was born in Muskegon on April 12, 1939 to William W. and Edna (Ploughman) Entsminger and was a life resident of the area. Bill graduated from Muskegon High School in 1957, worked at Nibble-A-Scribb-Nibb and then McDonalds. In 1958, he was the youngest manager employed by McDonald’s Corporation. Bill went on to work at Sealed Power and Dana for 39 years, retiring as Lead Supervisor. He was a member of First Congregational Church, the Old Newsboys, the North Side Lions Club, the Muskegon Antique Auto Club and was a 32nd Degree member of the Muskegon Masons – Lodge 140. Bill loved hockey and had been a Minor Official for the Muskegon Fury/Lumberjacks for 41 years. He was a man with a large heart that spent many years coaching little league and volunteering his time, most recently taking 9 trips to help with the Hurricane Katrina Relief. He enjoyed fishing, boating, trips to Little River Casino, going to garage sales and being an “Antique Collector”. Most importantly, Bill was a family man that loved spending time with his wife, his children and grandchildren. On September 2, 1984, Bill married the former Janice Kay Bowers and she survives him along with his children, Pamela (Richard) Lynema of Hamilton, Scott Entsminger of Muskegon and Tina (Kelly) French of Muskegon; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, James (Jane) Entsminger of Sarasota, FL, LeRoy (Sandra) Entsminger of Grand Haven and Wayne (Pattie) Entsminger of Ft. Meyers, FL; 1 sister, Betty (Jack) Pelkey of Venice, FL; 2 sisters-in law, Cherry Bowers of Grant and Joyce (David) Mayo of Sparta and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife, Carol Corradin. SERVICES will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at First Congregational Church (1201 Jefferson St.) with Rev. Timothy VanderHaar officiating. VISITATION will be from 2-4 & 6-8PM Tuesday at The Sytsema Chapel, Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc. 737 Apple Ave. 231-726-5210. MEMORIALS may be made to Harbor Hospice – Poppen Residence or to First Congregational Church. INTERMENT will be in Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
