Myra Belle Backstrom's Obituary
Mrs. Myra Belle Backstrom, age 77, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at her home. She was born October 4, 1930 to Walter S. and Tressa M. (Hinton) Roberts in Muskegon. Myra had been a life resident of the Bluffton and Lakeside area, and loved her neighborhood and all her neighbors. She was a 1948 graduate of Muskegon High School. On September 16, 1950 Myra married Arthur W. Backstrom at St. Jean’s Catholic Church. She was employed by Brunswick Bowling for several years and then was a waitress at Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee Shop for many years prior to retirement. Myra was a past auxiliary member of the Muskegon Recreation Club, where she had volunteered for close to 40 years. Myra was also an avid reader, set-back player, and bowler. Myra Belle is survived by her husband of 57 years, Arthur W. Backstrom, Sr.; 6 children, Arthur W. (Cynthia) Backstrom, Jr. of Muskegon, Susan (John) Racanelli of San Rafael, CA, Dianne (Terry) Ferris, Karen (Tim) Parker, Bill Backstrom all of Muskegon and Michael (Lisa) Backstrom of Portland, OR; 12 grandchildren, Josef, Kate, Ryan (Kolina), Robert and Annah Backstrom, Pierson Racanelli, Brian and Emily Ferris, Mac and Sam Parker, Gunnar and Annika Backstrom; 2 great-grandchildren, Aiden and Kingsley; 2 brothers, Fred (Gloria) Roberts and Thomas “Tuck” (Toni) Roberts; 1 sister, Louise Czarney; and several nieces and nephews. Myra was preceded in death by 1 brother, Gerald Roberts. A CELEBRATION of Myra’s life will be from 2PM until 5 PM Saturday, November 3,2007 at the Lakeside Veteran’s Club, 1777 Lakeshore Drive. Memorial contributions may be made to VNS Hospice or Muskegon Big Red Education Club
