Nancy Ann Dykehouse's Obituary
Nancy Ann Dykehouse, age 85, of Grand Haven passed away Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Grand Pines Assisted Living Center. She was born November 7, 1932, in Muskegon to Leonard C. and Alice (Cimperman) Horton, and married Richard G. Dykehouse on January 29, 1954, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Grand Haven. He preceded her in death on January 28, 2001.
Nancy graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1950, and then attended Hackley School of Nursing, graduating in 1953 as a Registered Nurse. She worked as a Registered Nurse in Colorado Springs, Colorado, before moving to the Grand Haven area in 1961. Upon moving to Grand Haven, she worked as the Media Assistant at Lake Hills Elementary School for many years. Nancy was a former member of Christ Community Church, serving as a Stephens Minister for nine years there. She then became a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in 2010. Nancy loved boating, sailing, fishing, feeding and watching the birds, traveling the world, and most of all spending time with her family.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Laura (Dan) Brinker of Livonia; three sons: Jim (Susan) Dykehouse of Chicago, Jeff (Laurie “Tav”) Dykehoue of Cheboygan, Rod (Jill) Dykehouse of Hershey, PA; nine grandchildren: Matthew Dykehouse, Reannon (Logan) Murphy, Meredith Dykehouse, Kelsa Dykehouse, Elliot Brinker, Ean Brinker, Hannah Dykehouse, Connor Dykehouse, and Alec Brinker; her sister, Kathleen (Sue) Horton-Lee of Honor; two brothers, Daniel (Jane) Horton of Muskegon, and Leonard (Evelyn) Horton, Jr. of Mansfield, TX; sister-in-law, Marilyn Horton of Spring Lake; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Nicholas Dykehouse in 1990, and her brother David Horton in 2011.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018, at St. John's Episcopal Church with The Rev. Dr. Jared C. Cramer officiating. Friends may meet the family one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will take place in Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Nancy may be given to St. John’s Episcopal Church or the Grand Haven Area Community Foundation.
