Nancy May Kasher's Obituary
Nancy May (Moats) Kasher, age 87 years, of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan was born on February 3, 1937, to Dale and Sarah Moats in Pontiac, Michigan. Nancy grew up in Pontiac attending The Pontiac Congregational Church and graduating from Pontiac Senior High School. She then went to Western and Eastern Michigan Universities, graduating with a degree in Elementary Education.
While teaching Kindergarten, first, second, and fourth grades, she married Ronald John Kasher on August 9, 1958. Daughters, Sheryl and Ann were born in 1962 and 1964, respectively, and gave birth to one son, Michael in 1968. Her family moved to Norton Shores, Michigan in 1972, where they attended McGraft Congregational Church. She worked in the church as the Director of Christian Education, Sunday school teacher, and was very active with various committees. Additionally, she was a substitute teacher and tutor for several elementary schools in the Muskegon Public School System as well as the Mona Shores Public School System.
Nancy is survived by her three children: Sheryl S. Voege of Marcellus, Michigan; Ann E. Paul (Dean) of Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan; and Michael D. Kasher (Jamie) of Norton Shores, Michigan. She has four grandchildren: Seth J. Voege (Lhotse), Brandon D. Paul (MacKenzie), Nolan M. Kasher, and Olivia N. Kasher. Nancy has one great granddaughter: Sofia S. Voege. Nancy was preceded in death by both parents, her brother, Richard D. Moats, and her husband, Ronald J. Kasher. After her husband’s death, she moved to Sault Ste. Marie where she lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Dean Paul.

A FUNERAL SERVICE will be 3 PM Thursday, March 21, 2024, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services (6291 Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444), with VISITATION with the family 1 hour prior to the service. MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS in Nancy's honor may be directed to the Muskegon Rescue Mission.
