Nellie Tupper's Obituary
Petranella “Nellie” Tupper, age 93, of Muskegon, MI died peacefully on December 24, 2011 at Yorkshire Manor in Walker, MI.
Nellie was born on July 2, 1918 in Muskegon, MI to Dutch immigrants, John and Gertrude Koster. She attended Muskegon Christian School until her father’s death when she was 13, at which time she left school to help support her family. While working as a machinist at Sealed Power, she met her future husband, Cleland “Tup” Tupper.
Nellie was a life-long member of First Christian Reformed Church of Muskegon and a dedicated volunteer in her church, at her children’s school, the Red Cross, and Hackley Hospital. After severe stroke in 1995, she resided at Boulevard Temple Nursing Home in Detroit, MI, until 2001, when she moved to Brookhaven Medical Care Facility in Muskegon.
She lived the last year of her life at Yorkshire Manor in Walker, MI, where her kindness and joy were appreciated by all.
Nellie is survived by her four children; Mary Beth (Brent Spoelstra) of Ada, MI, Janet (Jeff Silvey) of LaGoleta, CA, Karla (Fritz Walter) of Rohrbach, Austria, Richard (Ruth Solomon) of Chicago, IL; eleven grandchildren. Also surviving are her two sisters, Alida Hower of Muskegon, Gert Iverson of Port Charlotte, FL. She was predeceased by her husband “Tup”; firstborn child, Michael Lewis; and four siblings, Grace, “Charlie”, “Toni”, and Peter.

on Wednesday, December 28 from 6-8 PM. Her FUNERAL SERVICE will be held Thursday, December 29 at 11:00 AM at First Christian Reformed Church.
