Nicolas Dean Heil's Obituary
Mr. Nicolas Dean Heil, age 21, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday evening, May 11, 2016 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on July 10, 1994 to Daniel and Holly (Semelbauer) Heil. Nic graduated from Fruitport High School in 2013, Muskegon Community College in 2015 and had just completed his junior year at Western Michigan University where he was studying mechanical engineering. From a young age, he could be found building, creating and fixing things, and it was this love that steered him into the field of engineering. Nic was a hardworking, loving, energetic, outgoing, sensitive and selfless man. He was a natural leader and put his heart into everything he did. Nic enjoyed snowboarding, scootering and had a special passion for dirt bike riding. While in school, Nic played several sports, however, he ended up with a love for track. Most importantly, family always came first to Nic as well as spending time with his dog. He loved spending summer days at his grandparent’s pool showing off his special dives, enjoying time on the Fremd’s boat, or sitting around the bonfire with friends and family. His Fourth of July fireworks show was something to look forward to, and Nic always enjoyed being the life of the party. Nic is survived by his parents, Dan and Holly Heil; sister, Jorri (Gary) Smith; brothers, Garin and Ian Heil; grandparents, Herb and Betty Semelbauer and Clint and Kaye Heil; aunts and uncles, Richard and Mindy Kraus, Dale (Chantelle Dobson) Semelbauer, Deb and Craig Stenholm, Lisa and Pete Nagle; cousins, Ali, Emily, Annabelle, Mallory, Shaun, Amanda, Lauren and Ty; long-time girlfriend and love of his life, Gina Hartwell; and special friends, Mike and Kathy Fremd. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Louie. A CELEBRATION OF NIC’S LIFE will be 11AM Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St., 231-798-1100. VISITATION will be from 5-8 PM Monday, May 16, 2016 and one hour prior to his service. MEMORIALS may be made to the Helen DeVos Children’s Hospital Child Life Fund or Pound Buddies.
