Noel A. Long's Obituary
Noel A. Long, age 88, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in her home surrounded by family and is now with her Lord and Savior. She was born May 22, 1933 in Detroit, MI to Ellis and Nora (Pohler) Wood. Noel earned an Associates Degree in Teaching from Albion College and Eastern Michigan University and taught for a short time before starting her family. On December 29, 1952, she married Harry Long in Detroit. They were married 53 years before he preceded her in death on August 29, 2006. Noel had been a member of First Congregational Church then later First Baptist Church and most recently became a member of Forest Park Covenant Church. She was a dedicated member of P.E.O. International (a philanthropic organization for women) and Questers. She was also involved in many Bible Study groups over the years. Noel loved nature and all of God’s creation. She truly loved flowers and always kept a beautiful garden. She appreciated music, attending the symphony and enjoyed playing the piano and singing in the choir. Noel was an avid reader and surrounded herself with books to enjoy and to share. But most of all, she had a compassionate and giving heart, always looking to serve others. She would often reach out to neighbors, friends, and family to offer to bring a meal, give a ride, or help out in her special, loving way.
