Gee, I was just thinking of Aunt Sis yesterday, remembering hiking through the sand-dunes with her. My husband Wayne remembers too, even though it has been something like 15-20 years since we actually saw her. We shared cards over the years, which was how we realized that we were both supporters of the National Wildlife Foundation. I really admired her honesty (which she delivered tactfully), fun-loving and optimistic nature, love of nature, and common sense. I'll miss her. Your mother was already working at Maple Grove when Larry started teaching there in the fall of 1968. She followed the staff to North Shores when it opened. She never said an unkind word about anyone except the horrible principal they had after Mr. Jelier!! We helped plan her retirement party. When Larry was diagnosed with cancer and needed transportation daily for treatment, Betty was one of the retirees who volunteered to drive us there.
