Olwyn "Ollie" McDonald's Obituary
Mrs. Olwyn McDonald, age 94, of Ferrysburg passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 at a local assisted living facility. She was born August 1, 1923 in London, England to Joseph and Lillian Davies.
Ollie and her family moved to Muskegon when she was a young child. She graduated from Muskegon Heights High School in 1941 and worked as a Typist for many years. Ollie married her husband Jack on September 23, 1944 and stopped working when they decided to have their daughter, Sandra. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed her life most when she was surrounded by her family and friends.
Ollie and Jack made a permanent move to their vacation cottage on Spring Lake after spending their first summer there. She loved her little home on the water so much and she especially loved all her wonderful neighbors. When Ollie wasn’t home watching the boats on the water she was most likely out dancing or shopping. She also enjoyed going on cruises, taking vacations to anywhere warm and eating any kind of sweet treats she could find!
She is survived by her grandson, Todd (Rachel) Madison; two great-grandsons, Troy Jr. and Todd Clark; two great-granddaughters, Sydney and Samantha Schuiteman; her dear friend, Nan Rieske; two very special people who were like children to her, Doug Mosher and Pamela Jones. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lillian Davies; sister, Marjorie VandenBosch; husband, James McDonald; daughter, Sandra Madison; and grandson, Troy Madison.
A memorial service will take place 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at The VanZantwick Chapel (620 Washington Ave). Interment will take place in Spring Lake Township Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in memory of Olwyn may be given to Multiple Sclerosis Association in honor of her grandson Troy or Hospice of North Ottawa Community.
