Patricia Louise Tilton's Obituary
Mrs. Patricia Louise Tilton, age 81, passed away Saturday afternoon July 19, 2008. She was born March 1, 1927 in Cambridge, OH to Frank and Georgia (Hess) Powell and moved to Muskegon in 1964. Mrs. Tilton was a graduate of the College of Wooster in Ohio and was an English and Physical Education teacher for the Mona Shores Junior High School before retiring in 1987. She was an active member of Lake Harbor United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir and belonged to the United Methodist Women. Mrs. Tilton belonged to the A.A.U.W. Investment Club, the Michigan Education Association, and also started the Powell Family Grant-Education Scholarship Fund in Newcomerstown, OH and the Patricia L. Tilton Academic and Athletic Fund here in Muskegon. She loved to golf, and was a life-member of the Oakridge Golf Course and a member of the Lady Elks Golf Association. On June 27, 1948 she married William J. Tilton in Newcomerstown, OH and he preceded her in death on February 29, 2008. SURVIVORS include 3 sons, Stan (Nancy) Tilton of Atlanta, GA, Scott (Debbie) Tilton of North Muskegon, Ross (Cathy) Tilton of Evans, GA; 3 grandchildren, Amber (Greg) Vert, Zachery and Jacob Tilton; and 2 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her step-mother, Edna Powell and sister, Kay Banner. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Lake Harbor United Methodist Church (4861 S. Henry) with Rev. Mark Erbes officiating. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Tuesday at
