Patsy Sue Petty's Obituary
Patsy Sue Petty, a beloved mother of two children, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, at the age of 76 surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Patsy was born in Muskegon, Michigan on September 27, 1948, to Ernest and Ruth Cox. She attended Muskegon Heights Public School where she was a majorette in the band. She graduated in 1966. After graduation, Patsy attended Muskegon Business College then went to work at Teledyne Continental Motors, and Michcon (DTE Energy) until retirement.
Patsy was a pillar in the community, playing an important part in voter registration and the Democratic party for over 55 years. Patsy was a member of various organizations that fought for equality and justice for all in the community. Patsy had a love for fashion, shopping and being an advocate for those who needed help.
She leaves behind two daughters, Sabrina Petty and Alicia Petty; five grandchildren, DeMarquis Phillips, Monique Lewis, DeMario Phillips, Brittany Petty and Christopher Anderson; four great-grandchildren, Chassidy Petty, Charity Petty, Robert Foster Jr. and Denim Garrett; five siblings, Shirley Brown, Ernestine Cox-Brooks, Betty Cox-Vines, Michael Cox and Richard Cox; and cherished family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest (Ruth) Cox; and three brothers, Billy Cox, Ronnie Cox and Steve Cox.
A Graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 6, 2025, at Evergreen Cemetery, 391 Irwin Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442, with Pastor Avery Burrell officiating.
