I’ve known Paul for over 30 years. I had the great pleasure of working with Paul while I was the Information Systems Director at Hackley Hospital from 1980 to 1991. Paul was instrumental in the conversion from a manual process to an automated system for Patient Accounts early in our careers. If it weren’t for Paul’s dedication, vision and sense of humor, things would have been more difficult that they already were. He had the ability to take a stressful situation and have fun with it both for himself and folks around him.
We spent many a beer agonizing over the politics that we couldn’t change, personal challenges that we couldn’t solve, and discussing the ‘dirty laundry’ that seems to run through the hospital, and still walk away laughing about life and why did we waste so much time trying to fix something that couldn’t be fix, at least not by either one of us.
My legal name is Francis and Paul was the only one that called by my legal name. It still brings a smile to my face when I think about him calling me in the halls of Hackley.
I’m so thankful you are resting in peace now.
You will be dearly miss my friend.
