Mr. Paul Steingass' Obituary
In the early morning hours of Sunday June 3, 2018 Paul Leroy Steingass passed from this earth
and through the Pearly Gates of Heaven, to meet his Lord and Savior and reunite with his wife
of 58 years, Ruth (Leaf) Steingass, who predeceased him on January 16, 2018. Paul was the son of Elmer C. and B. Laverne (Durham) Steingass, born at home on March 29, 1937 in Henry County, Ohio. His family worked together as dairy and soybean farmers. He learned to drive a tractor by age 8 and his love of farming never left. He was needed to fully support the family requiring that he quit high school in the 10th grade, however, he did graduate from Reeths-Puffer High School in 1973. Paul loved to garden. He tremendously enjoyed driving the church bus for Dalton Baptist Church, which he did for many years, allowing him to participate with the youth groups at places like Cedar Point, Center Lake and Chicago. Paul was an exceptional handy man and readily volunteered his time, talents and equipment. When Paul and Ruth moved to Muskegon in 1959, he began working for the Shaw-Walker Company and retired from Knoll Group in 2000. Shortly after retirement Paul became sick with a series of devastating illnesses that left him blind and with severely impaired hearing. However, his love of family, friends and his God remained steadfast and true. Paul leaves behind 3 Daughters, 3 Granddaughters, 5 Great-grandchildren, a brother-in law with his wife, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, his sister-in-law, her husband, a niece and three nephews. Funeral Services for Paul will be held on Saturday, June 9, 2018, 11:00 AM, at Dalton Baptist Church, 3777 Holton Rd. with Rev. Robert DeWitt officiating with visitation held one hour before the service; and also on the evening of Friday, June 8th from 6-8 PM at The Sytsema Chapel, located at 737 Apple Ave, 231- 726-5210. Interment will be in East Dalton Oakhill Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to Dalton Baptist Church or First Priority of Muskegon.
