Paul R. Schmitt, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Paul R. Schmitt, Sr. age 62, of Spring Lake, passed away Wednesday morning at home. He was born December 9, 1947 in Ecorse, MI to Eugene and Winifred (Duguay) Schmitt.
Paul worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed collecting historical and recreational guns. His bread making skills were enjoyed by everyone that was privileged to get a loaf.
He is survived by 2 children, Paul R. Schmitt, Jr. of Palm City, Fl, and Charles E. (Diane) Schmitt of Indian Mound, Tenn; 5 grandchildren: Emily, Aaron, Jeremy, Chad, and Niki; his mother, Winifred Ann Schmitt of Spring Lake; fiancée Katie Trippi; 1 sister, Leslie Ann (Scott) Anderson; 4 brothers: Carl (Carole) Schmitt, Jeffrey (Sharon) Schmitt, Daniel (Bonnie) Schmitt, and Frank (Candy) Baklarz; also numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Eugene, and a sister, Carol (David) Anderson.
A Memorial Service for Paul will be held 11:00 AM Monday, June 14, 2010 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Daniel DePew officiating. Visitation with the family will be held 1 hour prior to the service at church. Memorial contributions in honor of Paul may be given to Harbor Hospice or the National Rifle Association.
