Randy and Maureen Scholtens' Obituary
Randy L. Scholtens, age 60, and Maureen M. Scholtens, age 56, both passed away tragically on June 11, 2020 at their residence. On July 18, 1987, Randy and Maureen were married in Muskegon.
Randy was born on September 5, 1959 to Robert and Lois (Deater) Scholtens in Muskegon. Randy worked at ADAC Automotive and Lowe’s in Muskegon. He enjoyed outdoor volleyball, sunshine, camping, traveling, reading and cross-stitch. SURVIVORS include daughter, Kala Scholtens and best friends: Glenn Knapp and Kala’s godparent, Stan (Pam) Mish. Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Lois and father, Robert.
Maureen M. Scholtens was born on April 15, 1964 to Robert and Patricia (Mead) Haigh in Lansing, MI. She worked most recently as a legal assistant to Mike Walsh in Muskegon. Prior to that she was proud to have taught multiple grades, as a special education teacher, for Oakridge Public Schools as well as some college classes at local institutions. For several years Maureen was devoted to the Michigan Education Association. She also enjoyed cake decorating, knitting, reading, stained glass and peacocks. SURVIVORS include daughter, Kala Scholtens; mother, Patricia Haigh; brother, Gale (Kendra) Haigh; sister, Polly (Thomas) Redmond and several nieces and nephews. Maureen was preceded in death by her father, Robert.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE has been planned for Randy and Maureen, 11:30 AM, Saturday July 25, 2020 at Fellowship Church (4200 Apple Ave.,) with Pastor Mike VanKampen officiating. VISITATION will be held from 10:30AM to 11:30AM at the church. Burial will take place at Egelston Township Cemetery. Family is requesting flowers and plants be held until the memorial gathering.
