I heard about Randy's passing only recently since I've been out of the area for quite some time. My sincere condolences. I knew him mostly when he was younger and thought he was a very talented and nice person, like his brother Dave. Sorry for your loss.

We worked with Earl at The Lodge Bistro at Snowbird. (That's what we call him there, Earl.) Brandon and I both share experiences of Earl's kindness in his willingness to "give us a ride down the canyon." For me this was after an especially bad snowstorm in which we were trapped in the canyon. For Brandon it was a majority of nights after work, as he didn't have a car. I am stunned to know Randy is gone. But I have so many great memories of being a Lake Street kid with Randy. Being late for dinner after playing in Kobe's treehouse, being late for dinner to take one more jump on our bikes, being late for dinner to see if pine needles can catch fire, being late for dinner to fish the government pond. Shawn worked with Randy and Dave both at the Rendezvous, I went to school with Randy and Knew the Evans brothers from mutual friends. What a fun and exciting person Randy was. Just to be around him, you knew he was going to do bigger and better things than most of us,And he did!

I had the pleasure of meeting Randy when he was just a little, big blue eyed boy living on Lake street. Those neighborhood boys were a very close group of friends and they shared something special and unique. Over the years, the little boy Randy became Turtle, and then Earl. Earl was my friend and my roommate. I had known him for the whole time I have lived here in Utah, which was probably twelve or fourteen years. He was quiet, however soulful. He helped me through some of the toughest times of my life, and was a good ear. Earl was one of the most incredible athletes I have ever seen, a beacon for the snowboarding industry.
