Raymond E. Wheeler's Obituary
Raymond E. Wheeler, age 89, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. He was born on November 11, 1931 to Gerald and Minnie (Boersema) Wheeler in Muskegon. Ray had been a life time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church until its closing. He served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. Ray worked as a teacher for Muskegon Public Schools at Steele Junior High for 34 ½ years prior to his retirement in 1994. He was also a driver for the Red Cross and volunteered with the Old News Boys. Ray was the press box supervisor at Hackley Stadium and Muskegon Big Red Athletic events for over 50 years. His hobbies included fishing and gardening. SURVIVORS include 3 children, Gary Wheeler, Diane (Todd) Losee, Pam (Todd) Henderson; 4 grandchildren, Morgan, Kaleigh, Kevin, Shannon and former wife, Nancy Wheeler. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Betty Boot and granddaughter, Faith Marie Losee. A FUNERAL SERVICE and Military Rites will be held for Ray 11:00AM on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at The Sytsema Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 737 Apple Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442 with Pastor Jane Mountain officiating. VISITATION with the family will be held 5:00pm to 7:00pm on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Muskegon.
