A letter to heaven.
Thank you for your service Uncle Dick, you served our country for my freedom and I will be forever grateful.
My earliest memories of you were bartending in grandma and grandpa Denhof’s basement for family Christmases, you always had the spirits flowing with laughter. You and Aunt Mary were known in my family as the “fun couple” for my entire life. I was often told stories of your earlier years and how you and Aunt Mary were always the life of every party. I could definitely see that these glimpses into your past were true because you were most definitely the life of the party at every single family wedding reception. That’s saying something because our family knew how to celebrate! Whether it was a lively polka or being the leader of the gator dance to the song “Takin’ Care Of Business”, you knew how to move & have FUN! I’ll never forget you in your suspenders celebrating Oktoberfest with a festive beer Stein or your St. Patrick’s Day outfits, fun and smiles to light up every room.
Your love and devotion to Aunt Mary was admirable. You will always be known as her loyal companion and one and only true love.
Your immaculate pool was one of my favorite places to spend time in the hot summer. It was a sentimental treat for me to see my daughter enjoy your pool with your grandkids as well!
God bless your kids. Your memory lives on through them, in Chris is your kindness, sentimentality & love, Michelle is you as the socializer and heart & soul of the party, Andy has all of your wit, humor and quick comebacks. All these personality traits that they inherited from you will keep you in our constant memories. Your grandkids, they’re amazing. They put the exclamation point on a life well lived! Their 8x10 photographs lined your living room wall just like the love you shared surrounds each and every one of their hearts.
You will be missed, until we meet again…
Your Niece,
Barbie
