Richard A. "Dick" Engle's Obituary
Richard A. “Dick” Engle, age 80, passed away unexpectedly, Sunday, July 7, 2024. He was born June 1, 1944, in Muskegon to Ellsworth and Charlotte (Styvenberge) Engle. Dick graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central High School and served his country in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967. He was a retired pattern maker for over 20 years. On June 29, 1968, he married the former Mary Denhof in Conklin, MI and she preceded him in death on September 22, 2017. Dick was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, loved to ride his bicycle, work in his garden, go fishing, and was a huge supporter of Relay for Life. But more importantly, he loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. SURVIVORS include three children: Christine (Tim) Sheldon of Grayling, MI, Michelle (Eric) May of Conklin, and Andrew (Kerry) Engle of Norton Shores; seven grandchildren: Joe, Tom (Hailey), Matt (Mackenzie), Maryn, Nick, Katelyn (Cody), and Cole; two great-grandchildren: Ellie and Cooper; brother, Jim Engle of Ravenna; sister, Kathy (Denny Claycomb) Engle of Hastings; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Karen Engle; brother, Jerry Engle; and sister, Susan Creed. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, July 12, 2024 at St. Catherine Catholic Church. Visitation with the family will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, July 11, 2024 at The Ravenna Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 3570 Thomas St., Ravenna, MI 49451 (231) 853-6511 and also one hour prior to the service Friday morning at the church. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery. MEMORIALS to Relay for Life will be appreciated.
