Richard Nienhouse Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Richard Nienhouse, Jr. age 91, of Grand Haven passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021. He was born November 19, 1929 in Spring Lake to Richard, Sr. and Louise (Voss) Nienhouse. On June 3, 1949 he married the love of his life Lucille Graham in Spring Lake.
Richard was employed by VerPlank Trucking for over 36 years. He loved his family and spending over 30 years camping at Grand Marais, Michigan. Richard also enjoyed fishing, hunting and was a voracious reader. He will be missed.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Lucille; three children: Mark ( Rachel) Nienhouse of Whitehall, Luanne Nienhouse of Spring Lake, and Kurt (Mary) Nienhouse of Grand Haven; seven grandchildren: Jody (Fred) Szot, Matthew (Stephanie) Nienhouse, Richard (Stefanie) Nienhouse, Sarah (Branson) Parler, Russell (Jamie) Nienhouse, Benjamin (Amy) Nienhouse, and Molly (Andy) Flack; and sixteen great-grandchildren; sister, Anita Barth; brother, Kenneth Nienhouse; sister-in-law, Pat Nienhouse; and many nieces and nephews. Richard is also survived by many of the Graham family from Montague. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard, Jr; great-grandson, Stephen Parler; brothers: Paul (Kaye) Nienhouse, Leon (Joan) Nienhouse, and Robert Nienhouse; and sister, Margaret (Robert) Purcell; sister-in-law, Brenda Nienhouse; brother-in-law, Bill Barth.
In keeping with Richard’s wishes there will be no public services at this time. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Richard may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Claybanks United Methodist Church.
