Richard "Rick" L. Turner's Obituary
Richard “Rick” Turner, age 74, passed away Friday, September 2, 2022, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born December 13, 1947, in the Village of Cass City, Michigan, to Garfield and Marion (Collins) Turner. Rick attended Cass City High school and was a standout football player. After high school, he would graduate from Central Michigan University with a Master’s Degree in Education. Rick spent 32 years in education and taught at North Branch High School. He also had a love for coaching. Rick coached boys Junior Varsity football and girls varsity softball, giving him the opportunity to coach his own daughter, Heather. On June 26, 1971, he married Jane Oberst, and they were able to spend 51 wonderful years together. Rick will greatly be missed by his wife; daughters, Rachel (Scott) Dyk and Heather (John) Peterson; grandchildren, Ellie Dyk, Daisy Dyk, Turner Peterson, Dixie Dyk, Ruby Dyk, Violet Peterson, and Roxie Dyk; brothers, Jim (Joyce) Turner and Ron (Karen) Turner; and sister, Kathy (George) Charles. He was preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00am September 10, 2022, at The VanZantwick Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 620 Washington Ave., Grand Haven, MI 49417.
