Richard C. Wildfong's Obituary
Mr. Richard Charles Wildfong, age 71, passed away surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, April 16, 2019. He was born on October 15, 1947 to Samuel and Mabel (Dipple) Wildfong in Muskegon. Rich was drafted into the US Army and served his country honorably while in Vietnam. A lifelong resident of the area he married the former Janet Hiler on August 26, 1967 in Hesperia. Rich enjoyed spending his time walking, riding bikes, reading and holding hands with his wife. He coached many of his children’s sports team and liked watching sports. He was loved by everyone and was always there when you needed him. Family meant everything to Rich, and he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren. Rich and Janet were active members of Fruitport Bethel Baptist Church. Rich is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet; children, Richard (Laurie) Wildfong Jr, Matthew (Trina) Wildfong, Timothy (Tracy) Wildfong and Joylynn Wildfong; five grandchildren, Alyssa, Haley, Matt Jr, Devlynn and Cassidy; brothers, Robert (Judy) Wildfong and Terry (Pat) Wildfong; sister, Eileen (Craig) Homan; brother-in-law, Bill Rumsey; sister-in-law, Della Wildfong; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Mallory; parents, brother, Larry Wildfong; and sisters, Karen Rumsey and Denise Wildfong. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, April 22 at 11AM at Calvary Church (213 W. Oak St., Fruitport, 49415). Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service, from 10-11AM.
