Rick A. Stapel's Obituary
Rick A. Stapel, age 67, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at home. He was born on November 5, 1957, to Harry and Geraldine (Dennison) Stapel in Muskegon, MI where he has remained a resident most of his life. He graduated from Reeths-Puffer High School class of 1976. During his years there he shone in debate and theater, captivating audiences with his wit and charm. His adventurous spirit led him to enjoy the outdoors scuba diving, camping, biking, fishing, and caring for exotic pets, embracing life's wonders with enthusiasm. Rick had a passion for music that led him to enjoy playing guitar at a young age. He enjoyed attending concerts with his brothers, celebrating their shared love of music. Rick made it a priority to be an active presence in his sons’ lives, whether it was supporting them in sports, camping, or scouts, and found the same joy in supporting his grandson at any and all events. Rick's compassionate and intelligent nature made him a friend to all, effortlessly connecting with people and leaving a lasting impression. He was gifted with nearly anything he set his mind to. Rick was a lifelong member of the IBEW and spent much of his adult life working with his father as a skilled Journeyman electrician at the family business, Electrical Contracting Services. As we remember Rick, we hold onto the vibrant memories and the happiness he brought into our lives. His legacy of love and joy will continue to inspire us all. He is survived by his two sons, Justin (Tia) Stapel and Gerad (Allissa) Stapel; grandson, Isaiah Stapel; mother, Geraldine Stapel; two brothers, Scott (Brian) Stapel and Todd (Kathy) Stapel; mother of his children, Karen Stapel; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Stapel. A Visitation with the family will be held from 4-7:00 PM on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444. A Funeral Service will the held at 11:00 AM on Monday, December 30, 2024, at The Lee Chapel, with visitation one-hour prior. Rick will be laid to rest at Laketon Township Cemetery.
