Robert Donner's Obituary
Robert Vincent Donner, age 80, of Spring Lake passed away Thursday, January 12, 2006, at a local hospital. He was born October 29, 1925 to George P. and Sophie (Ungering) Donner in Spring Lake, MI; and he married Joanne L. Lehmkuhl on May 7, 1955 in Newport, Kentucky. A lifelong area resident, Mr. Donner was an Army Veteran of WWII. He served as the assistant postmaster in Spring Lake for 35 years and later was a courier for NBD Bank. Mr. Donner as a member of Veterans for Peace. His interests included boating, sailing, skiing, and walking with his dog. Survivors include his wife Joanne; daughter Lisa Donner of Spring Lake; three sons, Leo Donner of Princeton, New Jersey, Matt Donner of Grand Rapids and John (Theresa) Donner of Grand Haven; two grandchildren, Zachary (Laura Ewing) Donner of Grand Haven and Jessica (Michael Follett) Donner of Fruitport; two sisters, Virginia (Russell) Johnson of Spring Lake and Delores (Ed) Salvin of Grand Rapids; a brother-in-law Jim Coffey of Spring Lake and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother George and sister Marguerite. A memorial service for Robert V. Donner will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Memorials to Blue Lake Public Radio, 300 E.
