Robert Edwin Laban's Obituary
Mr. Robert Edwin Laban, age 87, passed from death unto Life into his Saviors arms on Wednesday, January 31, 2018. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on March 31, 1930 to Victor and Catherine (Bigus) Laban and graduated from Muskegon Heights High School, class of 1948. Robert served in the Korean War with the United Stated Navy Construction Battalion (Seabee’s). He was active with DeColores and was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church where he sang in the choir. He also sang in several barbershop choirs in Florida. Robert was a retired electrician from the International Brotherhood of Electrician Local #275. He was past president of the Sons of Norway #523 in Muskegon and past commander of the Muskegon Power Squadron. Robert was an avid fisherman, boater, and he enjoyed bowling, however, his greatest goal in life was to help others any opportunity he had. On October 25, 1952, Robert married the former Doris E. Erickson and she survives him along with their three children, David (Brenda) Laban, Denise (Tom) Collins, and Donald Laban; four grandchildren, Erica (Rob) Pollock, Micah Gager, Cassie Collins and Bailey Laban; four great-grandchildren, Laban and Jarden Pollock, Amaya and Malia Anderson; one brother, Thomas (June) Laban; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Victor, Edward, and Joseph Laban; two sisters, Evelyn Overcamp and Virginia Spalding; and two brothers-in-law, Lee Spalding and Richard Overkamp. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, February 8, 2018 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church (1206 Whitehall Road) with Pastor Bill Uetricht officiating. VISITATION will be from 10-11AM Thursday, February 8, 2018. MEMORIALS in honor of Mr. Laban may be directed to the American Alzheimer’s Association
