Mr. Robert "Bob" Martin Woodruff's Obituary
Mr. Robert “Bob” Martin Woodruff, age 65, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born November 23, 1946 in Ann Arbor, MI to Charles and Helen (Martin) Woodruff and lived in the Muskegon area most of his life. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Viet Nam War. On September 21, 1973, he married the former Mary L. True in Lakewood Club, MI and she survives him. Bob worked 15 years as a civil engineer for the Muskegon County Road Commission and 15 years for the Oceana County Road Commission. He then worked 3 years as supervisor of construction for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. He retired in 2010 after working 5 years as the Director of Safety for the Muskegon County Road Commission. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church and was formerly active with the American Legion in Whitehall. SURVIVORS include his wife, Mary; 2 children, Anne-Elizabeth (Adam) Briggs of Reston, VA; Michael Woodruff of North Muskegon; 1 granddaughter, Violet Briggs; 2 brothers, Charles (Lael) Woodruff of Broomfield, CO; James Woodruff of Parker, CO; 2 sisters, Mary “Mimi” (Denny) Feicke of Normal, IL; Margaret “Bede” Woodruff of Alpena; nieces and nephews, Alyssa (Tim) Withee, Seth (Jessica) Woodruff, Kendra (Derek) Johnson, Tim Woodruff, Sheena Woodruff, Kaley Crews. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be celebrated 11:00 AM Friday, July 13, 2012 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church with the Rev. Fr. Anthony M. Pelak as celebrant and military honors offered by the Muskegon County Council of Veterans. INTERMENT will take place at Laketon Township Cemetery. VISITATION will be held 5-8 PM Thursday at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey Street, (231) 798-1100.
