I didn't know Bob in the political field. He was just a regular customer to me. I thought about him when his seat was empty this saturday morning.

I was devastated to learn about Bob's passing. I am so sorry for your family. He was remarkable as a man in the community and I am sure he was more remarkable as a man in the family. During his early years on the Norton Shores City Council, Bob and I were adversaries. Later on, I sat next to Bob for about a year at Council meetings which gave me the opportunity to discover the depth of his personality. I admired his dogged determination and will miss him. The City lost a great public servant. The memorial service was well done and captured the essence of Bob.##imported-begin##Frank F. Buck##imported-end##

I was so sorry to hear of Bob's sudden
death.
Although we had little contact over the past few years I'll always remember how my dad campaigned for Bob and how he beleived in what Bob was trying to accomplish for our side of Norton Shores.
We also remember how Bob watched over mom and dad during dad's illness with Alzheimer's disease.
I'm sorry I didn't get to go to his memorial, but I will remember him and your family in my prayers.

Bob could be stubborn to a fault but we so admired his tenacity and his ability to do the right thing when it came to helping people. He was my brother, my friend and my mentor. His spirit is his legacy and he will greatly missed.

Mr. McCartney was the one who got the ball rolling to put a light in the parking lot on Hile and Harvey. He also made sure the lot was plowed in the winter. There was quite a few of us who worked at the Grand Rapids Home for Veterans and that's where we parked and car pooled. We sure appreciated what he did for us.
