Robert J. "Bob" Hermanson's Obituary
Mr. Robert Jack “Bob” Hermanson, age 81, passed away Monday morning, May 4, 2009. He was born September 29, 1927 in Muskegon to Lyman and Reva (Jesperson) Hermanson and had resided in the Muskegon area for the past 45 years. Mr. Hermanson was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion Post #9 in Muskegon, and was a member of the Muskegon Elks Lodge #274. He taught for Reeths Puffer and Muskegon Public Schools for 35 years before retiring in 1984. Mr. Hermanson was a member of McGraft Memorial Congregational Church and enjoyed golfing, camping, and traveling all over the world. He was a professional dog handler prior to his teaching career and a founding member of the Muskegon Muzzleloaders. On December 7, 1946 he married Correne Henry and she preceded him in death on October 10, 1985. He then married Barbara Duff on September 29, 1987 in Muskegon and she survives him along with a son, Harold M. (fiancée, Barb McPhail) Hermanson of Muskegon; 3 step-children, Michael (Deborah) Voorhies of Hudson, MA, Patricia (Jeff) Kmiecik, Christopher Voorhies both of Muskegon; 7 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; 2 brothers, Jack (Mardi) Hermanson of Lake Forest, CA, Jerry (Joni) Hermanson of Ft. Atkinson, WI; sister, Marilyn (Larry) Olsen of N. Muskegon; 2 half brothers, Bill and Tom Hermanson; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Marjorie Gay Hermanson in 1963; and a grandson, Mark Anderson. A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 8, 2009 at McGraft Memorial Congregational Church with the Rev. Dr. Gerald J. Wahr officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery at a later date. VISITATION with the family will be from 6-8 PM Thursday at
