Roger Lee Welscott's Obituary
Roger L. Welscott, age 73, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 16, 2025, in Spring Lake, MI. He was born to Harold and Pearl (Hesse) Welscott on April 4, 1952, in Grand Haven, MI. Rog worked for Verplank Trucking for 25 years driving truck and operating a loader. He married the love of his life, Mary Jo (Bol) Welscott on December 3, 1971, in Spring Lake, MI. Faith and family were important to him. He loved spending time with his family talking, laughing, connecting, camping, and boating. He enjoyed talking with his neighbors and lending a helping hand. Rog enjoyed biking, woodworking, sailing, and kayaking; he made sure to sail the week of his birthday in April every year, and tried to kayak every month all year long. Roger is survived by his wife: Mary Jo Welscott; children: Todd Welscott, Wendy (Dwight Wenta) Sabatino, Doug Welscott; grandchildren: Jacob (Libby Nagy) Weesies, Kaitlyn Weesies, Lillian Weesies, Samuel Sabatino; brother: Richard (Mary) Welscott; sister-in-law: Karen Markwardt-Blakewell; brother-in-law: Ronald (Denise) Bol; nieces and nephews: Mark (Amy Jo) Welscott, Gina (Matt) Kashuk, and Larry Bol. He is preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Pearl Welscott; sister: Ruth Welscott; and two grandchildren: Emily and Emma Weesies. VISITATION will take place Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at The Spring Lake Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 213 E. Savidge St. Spring Lake, MI. 49456.
