Mr. Ron F. VanderKooi's Obituary
Ron F. VanderKooi, age 68, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, June 16, 2016. He was born on March 25, 1948 to Donald and Efriede (Hacker) VanderKooi in Muskegon. Ron worked for Howmet/Alcoa for 40 years until his retirement in 2006. He was an avid deer hunter and was active in Fruitland Covenant Church’s food pantry and food truck. Ron was a thoughtful, loving man with a great sense of humor who loved the Lord, his wife, kids and his beloved grandsons. He is survived by his wife of almost 48 years, Sandy; two children, Matt (Hilary) VanderKooi and Shelly (David) Decker; four grandsons, Joe, Hunter, Tyler and Brendan; one sister, Gisela (Charlie) Barnes; two brothers, Steve (Robin) VanderKooi, Mark (Sharon) VanderKooi; father-in-law, Al Farrington; sisters-in-law, Debby (Terry) Leonard, Lynn Thomas and Judy VanderKooi; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his twin brother, Don. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Fruitland Covenant Church’s food pantry or to Harbor Hospice. VISITATION will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 10:00-11:00 AM with the SERVICE following at 11:00 AM at Fruitland Covenant Church (4283 N. Weber Rd.).
