Russ Henkel
What to say about Ron Richards? A gloriously imperfect man in an imperfect world. He lived for the experience, for family and friends, for fun and hard work, to experience life to the fullest.
One of the first things I remember about Ron was him riding horses bareback on the beach in a swimming suit, and receiving a terrible rash on both legs and him not letting it slow him down. Or the time he, and his sons, started hiking down into the Grand Canyon and decided to go all the way to the other side (25 miles and over a mile of elevation gain).
That was Ron - challenges were the fun. He was a "why not" guy!
We shared dinner as a group many times and all I remember is a lot of stories and laughing, always great times.
He was a big man, and not just in stature. He was outsized in so many ways and he was loved for that.
Let's hope he was in heaven 5 minutes before the Devil knew he was dead.
