Ron and I have been friends since we wrote for the Mid West Amateur Radio Service newsletter back in 1969 to mid 70's. He came cross state to where I lived then to help get my home made antenna and pole up so I could get back on the air.
He helped me get back to the world of the living again when I was so depressed 2 years ago after becoming too ill to work and forced to retire. I've only been back up and running since this past spring actually. It was mostly because Ron kept writing to cheer up and encourage me to not give up. He was such a good guy, that even when I was too down to answer his e-mail's for days at a time, he never gave up on me.
Recently he had been pushing me in his gentle way, to get my antenna up again so we could talk on HF. He kept telling me about his invisible antenna's that held bird feeders and sent pictures!
He was always such a cheerful, helpful person in so many ways. Seems like he was always finding something else interesting to do and was knowledgable about so many things. I found him to be a wealth of information, always willing to help. He had such a great personality. I will miss him very much. I have to take my mother-in-law to an eye surgeon in the morning, so won't be able to attend. But I would make the 4 hour drive to be there if I could.
My heart goes out to Jackie and the whole family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I hope you will be able to gather the strength quickly to go on and your hearts mend soon. God must have needed him so he is with Him now. It's those of us left behind that are hurting from the loss.
May God bless and hold you close to Him in this time of heartache and tears.
Sincerely, Sharon Hughes - WA8ETY##imported-begin##Sharon Hughes##imported-end##
