Rose Ann Strait's Obituary
Rose Ann Strait, 92, passed away Monday, February 7, 2022. She was born February 27, 1929 in Gould City, MI to Michael and Mary (Sly) Cassidy. Rose was a Women’s Army Corps (WAC) Veteran serving from 1951-1954. On November 12, 1955, she married Jack Strait, Sr. in Muskegon and he preceded her in death on April 7, 2018. Rose worked for the U.S. Post Office as a clerk for 22 years prior to her retirement in 1989. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Spring Lake and was an election worker for Fruitport. She also was a Family Fitness member and liked to stay active. She enjoyed bowling and for many years would have lunch with fellow bowlers. Going to casino’s and playing Mahjong and cribbage, were a couple of her favorite pastimes. But most importantly, she loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren. When you talked with Rose, she would always remind you of how blessed her life has been. SURVIVORS include 4 children: Terry M. (Laurie) Strait, Greg T. Strait, Jack L. Strait, Jr., Glenn R. (Connie) Strait; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Cassidy; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Maria Sanchez. She was also preceded in death by a son, Anthony Joseph Strait; 5 sisters: Ida McCallum, Katherine Groleau, Helen Cassidy, Elizabeth O’Neal, and Patricia Yale; 3 brothers: Fredrick, John, and Joseph Cassidy; and life-long friend, Alyce McLaughlin. SERVICES for Rose will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100. VISITATION with the family will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place in Pine Hill Cemetery in Fruitport.
