Rose Mary Secory's Obituary
Rose Mary Secory, age 92, of Spring Lake passed away Friday, July 17, 2009, at her home. She was born September 22, 1916 in Grand Haven to Asa and Mary (Alberts) Marod. Rose graduated from Grand Haven High School in 1935 and on September 9, 1936 married Ralph Secory in South Bend, Indiana. Ralph preceded her in death on March 20, 2003.
Rose worked with her husband in the Standard Oil business they owned for several years. Rose was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she was active in the Women’s Club and also volunteered at North Ottawa Community Hospital. She enjoyed her family, reading, the Detroit Tigers and participated in the Lake Shore Speech Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Judy Secory of Okemos, MI; 2 sons, Mike and Peggy of Spring Lake, Steve and Mimi of Burnsville, MN; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her sister, Sophie Marod, and 3 brothers: Moses, Nick and Ed Marod.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Rose will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. William Langlois as Celebrant. Friends are invited to meet the family on Tuesday, July 21, 2009 from 5-7 p.m. at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake where a Vigil Service will be held at 6:45 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be at Lake Forest Cemetery. Memorials to St. Mary’s School/Church or Spring Lake District Library are appreciated.
