Pastor Roy A. Williamson's Obituary
Pastor Roy A. Williamson, age 98, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday morning, July 26, 2013. He was born August 25, 1914 in Chicago, IL to Alexander and Mabel (Barnett) Williamson; and came to Muskegon in 1946. He then Pastored at Evanston Avenue Baptist Church for 20 years; Anchorage, AK, Sawyer Highlands Baptist Church, Victory Baptist Church, and then back in Muskegon at Giles Road Baptist Church and Lakeside Baptist Church. Pastor Roy was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and of its Adult Fellowship. He loved the outdoors and was also a member of the National Rifle Association and of the National Wildlife Association. On March 23, 1935 he married the former Elsie M. Gale; and she preceded him in death on October 10, 1990. On February 16, 1991 he married the former Doris Dertien and she survives him along with 2 daughters, Cheryl (Daniel) Fullmer and Phyllis (Charles) Bagwell; step-children, Sandra Follett, Lawrence (Michelle) Bogner, Robert (Cynthia) Bogner and Thomas (Delphine) Bogner; 18 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his 2 brothers, Orville and James Williamson. The FUNERAL SERVICE for Pastor Roy will be 11:00AM Wednesday at Lakeside Baptist Church (2250 Denmark St, Muskegon, MI 49441) with Pastor Leslie K. Lew officiating. Burial will be in Laketon Township Cemetery. VISITATION will be 2-4 PM and 6-8PM Tuesday at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral Homes, Inc.; 1547 W.
