Russell P. Reckell Jr.'s Obituary
Russell Paul Reckell Jr. PE was born in Bristol Indiana on November 15th 1928. He was at home with family when he left us to meet his Lord on June 27th, 2020, reunited with his wife of sixty-six years, Barbara Joan (Barrett) who preceded him in June of 2019. Russ graduated from Jefferson High School in Bristol Indiana. He spent two years serving in the US Army in Korea and then earned his Civil Engineering degree in 1958. In 1979 he retired as Department of Management and Budget Construction Director for the State of Michigan. Never one to sit still he then opened his own General Contracting and Engineering Consulting firm in Arizona. After 10 years of this business venture he officially retired and moved to Muskegon. There Russ was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Muskegon, the Masons, Viking Club and the Michigan Society of Professional Engineers. We will miss his stories, his wealth of knowledge and his smile. Russ is survived by six children, Theodore Wayne Sr. (Patricia), Peter Paul (Kelly) Laura Jean (Brian) Nesbitt, Timothy Jon (Susan), Andrea Lynn Reiners and Jeannette Suzanne (Shawn). Eight grandchildren, Ted Jr., Shawn, Chelsea, Victoria, Trevor, Travis, John, Loden. Four great Grandchildren, Brody, Teagan, Mary and Julianna. His life is celebrated by his brothers Lawrence (Mary) and George, David (Sandra) and Theodore (Doris) Elwell. Preceding Russ in death, His parents Russell Sr. and Gertrude Tanswell His sisters, Coral May and Sharon, His brothers Alex and Harry Rosenberg. Private services will be held at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral and Cremation Services, 6291 S. Harvey St., Norton Shores, MI 49444 (231) 798-1100.
