Mrs. Ruth E. Leafers' Obituary
Mrs. Ruth E. Leafers, 84, passed away Tuesday morning, July 7, 2015. Born May 15, 1931 to Alfred and Eleanor (Johnson) Peterson, she was a life resident of Muskegon. Ruth married Robert L. Leafers who died January 27, 1987. She was a 50-year member of Olivet Evangelical Free Church, where she was a greeter the past seven years; and participated in various women’s ministries. She was also involved in Christian Women’s Club and was a featured speaker for them throughout Michigan and Indiana; and led “Discovery”, a support group for women with emotional problems, for 43 years. She is SURVIVED BY her children: Vince Leafers, Lori (Jim) Hoekstra, and Randy Leafers; two grandchildren: Lindsey Brink and Stephen (Marilyn) Brink, and their daughter, Emmalyn; her stepsister, Marian Ricco; and a special friend, Jay Larman. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Evelyn; and son, Jeff, in 2004. Ruth was a very active lady. She had been a beautician for 65 years, liked sewing, boating, shopping, dancing, and traveling, and was proud to be a Big Red as a member of Muskegon High School Class of 1949. VISITATION for Ruth Leafers will be 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Olivet Evangelical Free Church, 6790 S. Harvey St., followed by a FUNERAL SERVICE at 3:00 P.M. with her pastor, Rev. Craig Cramblet officiating, and interment in East Dalton Oakhill Cemetery.
