Mrs. Ruth Ennix Rop's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth Ennix Rop, age 99, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 30, 2016. Ruth was born February 5, 1917 in Manistee, MI to Victor and Lily (Peterson) Dalson, and moved to Muskegon at the age of 6. On March 14, 1941, she married C. Kenneth Rop and he preceded her in death on June 3, 2006. Ruth worked until her marriage in the Inspection Department of Sealed Power; after her children were grown, she returned to work as a crossing guard, and later as a Nurse’s aide at Brookhaven Medical Center, retiring in 1978. Ruth grew up at Dalton Baptist Church and later became a member of Allen Ave Christian Reformed Church. She loved the Lord faithfully and attended Christian Women’s Club in Muskegon and looked forward to her Neighborhood Bible Study with all her Christian friends. She also enjoyed playing golf in her later years, making a hole in one at age 70. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and is survived by her special sons, Larry (Mary K.) Rop of North Muskegon, Kenneth (Carolyn) Rop of Virginia, and Dr. Ronald D. (Mary A.) Rop of Norton Shores; 8 grandchildren, Alexa (Oscar) Roeder, Brandon (Shauna) Rop, and Kathleen (Jason) Cranford, all of Virginia; Dr. Tim (Cheryl) Rop of South Carolina, Dr. Eric (Susan) Rop of N. Muskegon, Kristi (Chris) Pawlak of Ohio, Sarah (Paul) Schmude of Traverse City, and Rhonda (Joe) Fitzsimmons of Jenison; 22 great grandchildren and 2 on the way; many nieces and nephews; and a host of good friends. Ruth came from a family of nine and was the last survivor. A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at The Lee Chapel, 6291 S. Harvey St. 231-798-1100,with Rev. Kenneth Vanderlaan officiating. VISITATION will be Tuesday evening from 5-8 pm and 1 hour prior to the service, (10-11 am). Burial will take place in Restlawn Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to The Muskegon Rescue Mission or the Alzheimers Association.
