Ruth Vilsmeyer's Obituary
Mrs. Ruth M. Vilsmeyer, age 97, passed away Sunday morning, March 7, 2004 in Muskegon. She was born July 14, 1906 in Chicago, IL to Julius and Emma (Roenneburg) Tueffel, and moved to the Muskegon area in 1972. She had worked at the Virginia Regional Center in Minnesota prior to retiring in 1971, was a Sunday School teacher and choir member in Minnesota, and was a member of the PTA. In Chicago, she was also a Sunday School teacher and choir member. She sang in the Chicago Opera Company, and had the honor of singing for Jane Adams at the dedication of the Hull House. In Muskegon, she was a member of First Presbyterian Church. SURVIVORS include 1 daughter, Julie M. (William Papo) Stewart of Norton Shores; 1 step-son, Richard (Lou) Felix of Gaithersburg, Maryland; 5 grandchildren, Amy (Randy McIntosh) Stewart, Jennifer (Ryan Dibble) Stewart, Scott Stewart, Daniel Stewart, Veronica Stevens; 1 great grandchild, Taylor Marie Dibble; 3 step-grandchildren, 3 step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Henry Vilsmeyer in 1953, son-in-law, J. Michael Stewart in 1982, brother, William Tueffel in 1996, step-daughter, Joan Schultis in 1993, and her childhood sweetheart and devoted companion of over 20 years, Clifford Felix in 1996. SERVICES will be 2:00 PM Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Dr. Fred Halde officiating. Burial will take place in the Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago.
