I went to East Grand Rapids High with Sarah Jo and remember her as someone who always had a smile on her face and a warm welcome for everyone she met. This world would be a better place if there were more people in it like Sarah Jo. I have known Sara Jo since the 6th grade and graduated with her from EGR in 1952. She waa always a favorite friend of all of us....always upbeat and fun to be around. She and her family have suffered long enough...every emtion there is has shown it's head, and that is good. She is now at peace. What a woman. Our deepest sympathy to you all. Sarah was a "grand" lady. I remember playing the organ for several services at GH Presbyterian Church and always was welcomed most sincerely by her. She was quick to mention that she often was the only tenor in the choir!...and then smiled, of course. She had a genuine spirit and enjoyed people as well as the arts!

As an impressionable child living next to the Johnson family in Spring Lake, I had the good fortune to be included in a number of learning activities- boating, sailing, water- skiing. In looking back at those activities, in addition to learning to steer, tack, and jump, Don, Sarah, Doris and Marty also laid the foundation for other skills by their actions. Respecting, sharing, communicating, encouraging and enjoying are a few that come to mind.
