Scott M. Bantien's Obituary
Scott M. Bantien, age 56, peacefully passed at home on Sunday, November 6, 2022. He was born April 12, 1966, in Shelby, Michigan, to Gerald and Loretta (Hren) Bantien. Scott received his Commercial Driver’s License and was a semi-truck driver for several years. He then worked as a heavy equipment operator, retiring from DeSal Excavating in 2017. After many years together, on October 6, 2014, Scott married Sandra Mertz in a small ceremony in Las Vegas. They were a couple described as one was rock-n-roll and the other was country. Scott enjoyed fishing, camping, riding his motorcycle fast, hiking with his dogs, and feeding his front-yard wildlife every morning.
Scott will be greatly missed by his wife, Sandra; children, Jessica Tienda and Cody Bantien; stepdaughter, Janie Mertz; seven (7) grandchildren; sisters, Mary Russell, Denise Garcia and Shelly Bantien; brothers, Dennis (Kim) Bantien and David (Sandy) Bantien; and his five (5) dogs, especially one that truly became man’s best friend, Roscoe. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Paul Garcia and Todd Russell; and nephew, Dennis Bantien. VISITATION with the family will take place Friday, November 11, 2022, from 5pm-7pm, at The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Creation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd., Muskegon, MI 49441.
