Sharlynne J. Sanborn's Obituary
Sharlynne J. “Shar” Sanborn, age 89, passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at her home. She was born February 29, 1936 in Muskegon Heights, MI to Lambert P. and Pearl I. (Langler) Swanson and lived all of her life in the area. Shar graduated from Muskegon Heights High School. On May 18, 1957, she married her high school sweetheart, Dean W. Sanborn, the Love of her Life at Temple United Methodist Church in Muskegon Heights. During their 61 years of marriage, the two enjoyed lighting up the dance floor, with “In the Mood” being their song, hours spent boating with family and friends, and vacationing in Fort Myers Beach, FL. Shar worked at Meijer, Inc for over 28 years and retired in 1997. Shar loved her family fiercely! Gathering her loved ones together for a holiday or a simple backyard BBQ was always a special occasion. Spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought great joy to her life. It was often said that Shar made friends quickly and easily, soon calling those friends her family. She never met a stranger. Always finding a person to talk with, laugh with, or give sound advice to. Shar volunteered for Mercy Hospital after her retirement and walked with her daughters in the annual Light the Light Lymphoma Walk. Shar remained a very active and hard to keep up with individual. She was always up for the next adventure, albeit a breakfast or lunch invitation, a competitive hand of cards, or a Road Trip with family and friends. And a bigger MSU Spartan fan could not be found anywhere! She loved cheering on her Spartan teams! Survivors include 4 children, Debbie (Greg) Hundersmarck, Kim (David) DenBoer, Deanna Mason, Paula (Lee) VandenHeuvel; 11 grandchildren, Greg Jr. (aka “Greggie to Gramma”) (Susan) Hundersmarck, Lauren (Ricardo) Hundersmarck, Josh (Emma) DenBoer, Sammi (Tony) Iorio, Mic Hundersmarck, Danielle Zuiderveen, Tyler (Emily) Norris, BreAnna (Aaron) Schneider, Hannah Mason, Nick VandenHeuvel, Travis VandenHeuvel; 8 great grandchildren, Maddie, Tripp, Belle, Sophie, Isla, Lina, Maven, and Lane; and a multitude, too many to name, friends that were also family in her eyes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Sanborn; her parents; 2 brothers and 3 sisters. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at The Lee Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 6291 Harvey St, Norton Shores, MI 49444, with Pastor Donna Rick officiating. Visitation will be held 9-11 AM Tuesday prior to the service. Memorial Contributions may be directed to the Lymphoma Research Foundation (www.lymphoma.org).
