I only met Sharon briefly on one occasion - her son Kern's wedding. I may have not known her personally, but I can only imagine what a beautiful, generous, loving and proud woman she was based on the actions and life that Kern leads.
I worked with Kern for over 20 years. Our families have grown together and I have witnessed how he has taught his sons to be respectful and responsible young men. Some of the stories he has shared with me about how his sons are to treat their mother, Lauren, always brought tears to my eyes as I know Kern would do these things for his own mother. Kern would tell me that he has told the boys that their mother should never touch a car door handle or any door. The boys were to open all doors for women. And they should pull out chairs for Lauren to sit down. Chivalry is not dead and it’ is all because of a mother’s love for her son, teaching him how to be a man. Sharon taught Kern all of this and even though she isn’t physically here anymore, her true spirit lives on in her son and grandsons.
I’ve shared with Kern the first surgeries, the rehab, the home renovations, and countless prayers. I believe we knew this day would come but there is nothing that can prepare your heart for this great loss. Kern, Lauren, Jorden and Kyan, our deepest sympathies go out to you and your entire family. May you find comfort in knowing that she will rest peacefully in God’s hands where she will be perfect again. She will be with you always.
