Sherman L. Vink's Obituary
Sherman L. Vink, life time resident of Spring Lake, went peacefully into the arms of the Lord, on April 3, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 19, 1940 to Loral Walter and Ellen Irene (Rettenhouse) Vink.
Sherman married Sharon A. (Klein) Vink on September 16, 1961, and spent 53 beautiful years together. This awesome father and provider is survived by his wife, Sharon; son, Glenn R. Vink and Susan K.; son, Joel T. Vink; daughter, Elizabeth R. (Vink) and Mark Mueller; son, Matthew L. Vink and spouse. The grandpa and “bapa” to seven wonderful and loving grandchildren: Ryan, Chelsea, Hunter and Mackenzie Vink, and Makayla, Madeline and Chase Mueller. Sisters: Judy and Dan Tibbe, Barbara and Bill Seger, Gayle and Jim Kroll, Laura and Tom McFarren; brother: Terry and JoAnn Vink; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Sherm was in construction for 50 years as a true craftsman, carpenter and builder. Starting with his father, L.W. Vink Construction, he became General Manager of The Unit Step Co. In the following years, Sherm worked with and for Meekhoff Construction; L.W. Vink Construction; Lampe Construction; and Tridonn Construction. Sherm built and remodeled many homes and commercial buildings in the West Michigan area, leaving behind examples of the quality construction and finish work he was known for.
Sherm loved the outdoors, camping, hunting and fishing. He was an avid woodworker. He created and crafted unique items for friends and family. Above all he loved his time with family and grandchildren.

Please join us on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at noon for a Prayer and Memorial Service in celebration of our beloved husband, father, grandpa and “bapa’s” life, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 406 E. Savidge St., Spring Lake, MI., with Rev. Fr. William Langlois officiating. You may meet the family from 10:30 a.m. until the time of celebration. Please join the family after the service for a luncheon at church. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association In Memory of Sherman L.
