Sherry Walenta-David's Obituary
Sherry Walenta-David, 59 years old from Spring Lake, passed away in the early morning of Saturday, July 25th after a long illness. Sherry was born on February 10, 1961 to Lee and Shirley David in Muskegon, the third of four children. She graduated from Mona Shores High School and then with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Central Michigan University, and a Master’s Degree from Grand Valley State. Her life’s work was in supporting her community, most recently through Child Protective Services in Muskegon County. Sherry was an avid fan of college football, enjoyed golfing, hated cold weather, and loved sitting poolside in the warm sunshine of southern Florida. She was extremely loyal and loving to family and friends alike, and is already deeply missed.
She is survived by her loving family: husband, John; parents, Shirley and Lee; brothers, Leland, Larry, and Greg; children, Craig, Dana, and Carey; grandchildren, Emery, Elynn, and Cameron; as well as a multitude of grieving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, extended family, and friends.
A service will be held in Sherry’s honor in Naples, Florida at a later date. The family respectfully asks those who wish to provide gifts to instead please donate to the United Way of the Lakeshore, an organization which provides services to the local community that Sherry supported for over 30 years.
