My most memorable years growing up are the years that I was a neighbor of Shirley's. I spent hours playing with the neighbor kids and on those hot summer days we all knew that if we knocked on her door, she would always bring popcicles. Whenever my family would go out for a walk, she was always there with a friendly greeting. I think that is what I remember most, just how friendly she was. It has been years since I have seen Shirley, but I will always remember her fondly.##imported-begin##Kristi (Bolitho) Streng##imported-end##
Shirley was my first friend when we moved to Michigan in 1985. I was so happy when my daughter & son-in-law Matt & Laurel Nease purchased a home next door to Shirley. Every summer when we came up north from Florida I would get to see Shirley. Last summer Shirley & I walked the boardwalk - it was the last time I visited with her. We had such a good time! I will miss her cheery fun personality, her kindness and thoughtfulness. My grandchildren will miss Grandma Shirley. We were lucky to have her in our life!##imported-begin##Sandy Telander##imported-end##
A message from us to Shirley's family. We met your mom in Traverse City while we were staying there a few years back. She came over to join us & Barb & Loyal Gedmin for a cook out. I never go in swiming but your mom talked me right into it - so I did get wet in Traverse Bay & we have joked about it since. She was a great lady & you kids can be mighty proud of her. God Bless!##imported-begin##Harold and Donna L. Drake##imported-end##
I will always treasure the memory of us (you, Cheryl and I), in Florida, sitting on the deck and watching a glorious sunset. We talked about how the sunset was God's gift to us. We were so blest to be able to SEE the sunset, HEAR the ocean rolling on to the shore and FEEL the sand with our hands and feet !!!! God was so good to us !!!! As breathtaking as that sunset was - I'm sure it pales in comparison to what you're SEEING now.
1 Cor 2:9 I will miss you sweet friend. My life was blest because of yours. Thank You

Shirley was a terrific neighbor. She helped organize neighborhood parties and garage sales. She watched out for the children and pets. She would often call our house when she saw one of our cats stroll through her yard. She took a special interest in our daughter, Arden and played games with her and taught her to make crafts. We will miss her warm smile and kind spirit. She was a jewel in our neighborhood. We will always treasure our time with her.##imported-begin##Doug & Gina Clark##imported-end##
Grandma Shirley was the best neighbor that I could ever have. She made friends with all the people in our neighborhood. I loved that she would let us call her "Grandma Shirley". My friend and I would go over to her house and we would play games like dominoes, and she would teach us how to make really cool crafts. The one that she taught us most recently was how to make these cool pop tab belts. I will really miss her and our whole neighborhood will too.##imported-begin##Arden Clark##imported-end##

I am truly sorry about the passing of my friend Shirley. We worked together at Sparton/Dura and had many laughs and good times there. I moved away and hadn't talked to her in a long time so I didn't know she had heart problems. She will be missed by all that knew her. May God be with the family at this most difficult time.##imported-begin##Bob Crisman##imported-end##
